Date established on the basis of a Shevchenko letter to S.T. Aksakov of 15 July 1858, in which he wrote: "Today start for the new board, which I want to pass one of the great works of Rembrandt" and the Shevchenko's inscription on etching donated to Ja. Kukharenko: To father of Kosh Jacko Kukharenko in memory Shevchenko November 7, 1858 [Institute of Literature National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, fund 1, № 717].

By etching "The parable of the workers in the vineyard" and the etching of the picture I. Sokolov "Friends" Shevchenko in 1859 was "promoted to academician" ["Shevchenko in the documents and materials", K., 1950, p. 211, 212].

For Basil Matveevich Lazarevsky for thermometer Shevchenko November 1858 (13) [Central State Archive of Literature and Art, Moscow, Archive of lazarevsky, fund number 277].

In the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko stored eight copies of this etching of different states, some of them have inscriptions in red pencil by hand Shevchenko with dates: My dear Princess Alexandra Mikhailovna Kulish from older nobleman T. Shevchenko in memorial (inv. number g – 661); To Jacob Matveevich Lazarevsky for decoration of his Vyatka vale brings Shevchenko (inv. number g – 697); To Maria Stepanivna Kzhysevych in memory of Shevchenko (inv. number g – 886).

One of the copies of this etching Shevchenko forwarded to M. S. Shchepkin, and wrote to him 13.XI 1858:

"Sending you through the artist Raev a copy of my last engraving: no surprise – as succeed. Do thou shalt time the Count Alexei Sergeevich Uvarov or visit to him and thank him from me. This etching was printed on his money, thanks to him!"

In the literature known as "The parable of the grape sade", "The parable of growers and makers", "Usurer after Hermitage picture by Rembrandt", "Pawnbroker", "About wine grower and workers", "Wine grower", "Scene in the merchant's office".

Previous storage of the specified instance: the State Russian Museum, Leningrad, Gallery of pictures Shevchenko, Kharkiv.

In 1859 a copy of the etching exposed at the exhibition at the Academy of Arts entitled "Employee of wine-grower, by Rembrandt" ("Pointer works of art exposed in the halls of the Imperial Academy of Arts", St. Petersburg, 1859, p. 10, № 114); in 1911 – at Shevchenko's exhibition in Moscow (Product, № 9), and the exhibition of art works of Taras Shevchenko in Kiev (Product, № 7), in 1929 – at the exhibition of works of Taras Shevchenko in Chernihiv (Catalogue, p. 17th, № 6), in 1939 – at the Republican Shevchenko Jubilee exhibition in Kyiv (Product, № 362).
