Taras Shevchenko. Evening in Albano near Rome (Wood). Paper, etching, aquatint 22.5 × 28.2 cm, 27.3 × 30.7 cm (29.3 × 37.2 cm). [St.Petersburg]. [Not later than 25.V] 1859. Taras Shevchenko National Museum, inv. g – 888.

At the bottom right of the print – inscription by etching stroke: M. Lebedev. 1836, on the left below the image – Engraved Shevchenko. 1859.

On the back at the lower edge – inscription by hand Shevchenko in red pencil: For Mr. Andrievsky and underneath – inscription by a black pencil unknown hand in black pencil: from Taras Grigoriev. Shevchenko – 12 Nov 1859 in Kyiv through Mr. Soshenko.

Etching made after scenery by M. I. Lebedev of the same name not later than 25.V 1859, when Shevchenko got permission to leave from St. Petersburg to Ukraine [«T. Shevchenko in the documents and materials ", K., 1950, p. 216].

Except this print, in the Taras Shevchenko National Museum stored five instances of different states. At one print below impression inscriptions by hand Shevchenko in red pencil: For Natalia Aleksandrovna Khruschova on memory 8 June 1859 Shevchenko [inv. g – 384].

In the copy which was kept in the V. Tarnowski's Chernihiv museum of ukrainian antiquities in the catalog erroneously defined size (21.8 × 18.2 cm), this error is repeated in many later editions.

Novitsky, Taras Shevchenko as a painter, Lviv – Moscow, 1914, p. 79].

In 1860 one of the copies of this etching exposed at the exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts [see A. A. Blagoveschensky, Shevchenko in St. Petersburg, "Historical Journal", 1896, v. 64, p. 899, "Pointer works of art exposed in the halls of the Imperial Academy of Arts", St. Petersburg, 1860, p. 22, № 32]; in 1911 – at the exhibition of works of art Shevchenko in Kiev (Product, № 77); in 1929 – at the exhibition of works of Taras Shevchenko in Chernihiv (Catalogue, p. 18, № 2), in 1939 – at the Republican Shevchenko Jubilee exhibition (Product, № 374).
