Design of house, 1859
Plans and facades of house. Architectural projects. [St.Petersburg]. [II – 25.VIII 1860].
We know two fronts (see number 49, 50), five schematic plans of house (see number 113, 114, 115, 116, 117) and one – chamber (see number 118).
The first variant is the project number 113, 114.
The second version of the project – plan house with a round glass porch (see number 115) Shevchenko posted to V. G. Shevchenko together with a letter from 18.II 1860: "sending you hastily made plan of the house. Think and do as you well knew. I just need to work room was oak and glass round porch on the Dnieper".
Known another variant of plan house with a glass porch (see two images of facades to it – № 49 and 50).
The last variant (see number 117) was submitted to V. G. Shevchenko together with a letter from 25.VIII 1860 town: "sending you plan of house. If thou will find not the case, amendment and send me…".
On the back of this plan – a schematic sketch of chamber (see number 118).
The plan was not carried out because of Shevchenko death, and by deliberately delaying the sale of land by landlords who did not want to have Shevchenko its neighbor.
After the death of Shevchenko these projects were purchased Chestahivsky.
According Karachevska, a the facade and two schematic plans of house were exhibited in 1929 at the exhibition of the works of Taras Shevchenko in Chernihiv (Catalogue, p. 27, № 10 – 12). The catalog of Shevchenko Jubilee Exhibition in Kiev also registered two projects facade of house and one house plan (Karl, 1941, p. 65, № 346 – 348). But because of the inaccuracy mentioned in the catalog sizes that do not match the original, it is impossible to determine what images was dispalyed.
