On the bottom edge of the picture inscription in ink by hand Shevchenko: For Nadezhda Vasylivna Tarnowska on memory of [8 October 1859 Shevchenko] [in brackets taken cutted off part of the inscription].
On the back top left – ink inscription: Keeper on the cemetery in 1859.
