Dated on the basis Butakov diary. To Chekan Aral island expedition arrived 17.V 1848, which was recorded in a diary:

"In the evening [17.V] weigh anchor and moved to the island Chikan-Aral, located on a short distance to the S, and anchored on its western side" ["Day notes of navigation A. I. Butakov on the Aral Sea in 1848 – 1849 years", Tashkent, 1953, p. 33].

On the eastern shore of the island expedition arrived 19.V 1849, as Butakov wrote: "In 1st hour weigh anchor, but not seeing the islands to the south, went toward the east coast, to determine astronomical point on it" [ibid, p. 34].
