Lower left – pencil inscription by hand Shevchenko: NN. Archangel Cathedral.
On the back of a sheet on which picture pasted, at the bottom ink inscription by hand Shevchenko: NN. Archangel Cathedral built in XIV century, top left – by another hand in pencil: It is drawn in Nizhny. 11 October 1857. In diary [Oct. 12] says, that this cathedral built in 1227 in the reign of Jurii Vsevolodovich, at the bottom above Shevchenko's autograph – by the same hand: signature Shevchenko.
Dated on the basis of recording Shevchenko in his diary on 12 October 1857:
"I finished yesterday started earlier drawing of the cathedral. Original, beautiful and most ancient, well-preserved building in Nizhny Novgorod. This cathedral was built during the Great Prince of the Nizhny Novgorod Jurii Vsevolodovich in 1227".
