Picture made from flagpole of Novopetrovsk fort. At the bottom of the harbor – lighthouse and village Nikolaevska (see note to number 145). Buildings of village Nikolaevska see number 141, 142, 149.
After this sketch Shevchenko performed a complete picture and sent it to Br. Zaleski (see comment number 30), who performed etching "Bay of Novopetrovsk fort" [album «La vie des steppes Kirghizes», Paris, 1865, p. 43].
P. Karutts notes that the stone column in the foreground of etching are road signs, which should indicate the proximity of dwellings ["Among kyrgyzes and turkmens on Mangyshlak", St. Petersburg, 1911, p. 9 – 10].
