Taras Shevchenko. Bay near Novopetrovsk fort. [Watercolour]. [Novopetrovsk fort]. [1851 – 1853].

In autumn 1853 Shevchenko sent Br. Zaleski for sale pictures. In a letter to Arcady Węgrzynowski on February 20, 1854 one of these pictures Zaleski named "Novopetrovsk landing":

"I sent you, Arcady, figures, about which you asked before. One of these pictures have kind of rock called "Monk", a few mile from the castle, on the second – Novopetrovsk landing…" [G. P. Palamarchuk, Biographical materials Shevchenko in Bronislaw Zaleski's correspondence, "Shevchenko studies", Kyiv, 1858, № 1, p. 122].

Zaleski copied the picture and later performed after it etching "Bay near Novopetrovsk fort" [«La vie des steppes kirghizes», Paris, 1865, p. 43].
