Mother's prayer

Location of original is unknown. Description is given according to the former owner of the image B. G. Sukhanov-Podkolzin [see "Kyiv antiquity", 1885, Vol. II, p. 240]. Published by reproduction, which is in unpublished materials A. Novitsky to publish painting heritage Shevchenko, made from a photo that was kept in the V. Tarnowski's Chernihiv museum of ukrainian antiquities ["Catalogue of V. Tarnowski's museum of ukrainian antiquities", Vol. II, Chernigov, 1900, p. 201, № 518]. In the Chestahivsky's list photo of this work is listed at number 26.
Mother's face closely resembles portraits of A. A. Uskova (see number 34, 35, 41). As plot of the figure could serve severe illness of Uskova's son – Dmitry, who died in June 1853. This is a basis for dating.
