Taras Shevchenko. Dock on the Syr Darya River in 1848. Watercolour (13 × 22,8 cm). [20.VI – 25.VII 1848]. Taras Shevchenko National Museum, inv. g – 442.

In the figure was an inscription by hand Shevchenko: Dock on Syr Daria in 1848. On the back lower left same inscription in pencil.

Dated on the basis of the Butakov's record of a time outfit schooners on the Syr Darya near Raim: "At 20 (June 1848) I had finished transporting the bank of the Syr Darya all members and accessories of the new schooner, and 21 began to collect it" [Central Archive of military fleet USSR, Leningrad, fund 19, file 32, fol. 13v]. "On 25 July, at 7:00 pm, I raised my pennant on the schooner Constantine, I leave Raim dock along with the schooner Nicholas, saluting the fortress began to go down to the mouth of the Syr Darya… " [ibid, fol. 20].
