Self-portrait described after the data submitted its former owner S. Neklyudov:
"I received it as a gift from V.U. Bykovski, which, in turn, received the portrait from I. Dzyubin ascertaining its authenticity by the following lines: "Portrait of Shevchenko, painted by himself in 1859, gave me by a late Taras, in memory of years of sincere affection between us. One can read about our mutual close relationship in the memoirs composed by Shevchenko and published in the magazine "Osnova", in 1861, if not mistaken. I. Dzyubin". Dimensions of genuine portrait were 10 × 8 vershok. Portrait painted with oil paintings and beautifully preserved. A copy of this portrait made painter Zhebrovsky" (Russian antiquity, 1891, book V, p. 447).
Engraving by I. I. Matyushin from Zhebrovsky's copy was reproduced in the annex to the June book of "Russian antiquity" magazine for 1891 (cover).
Current location self-portrait is unknown.
