On the back of the bottom – pencil inscription by hand Shevchenko: 5. Tjuk-Karagaj cape on Mangyshlak peninsula.

Cape Tjuk-Karagaj or Tjub-Karagaj, for modern transcription – Tub-kargan (meaning "shrub of caragan"), located in the northwest of the peninsula Mangyshlak.

In the background of pattern – a rock "Monk" (see number 30).

Found in the literature under the name " Moonlight in the mountains" ["Product painting art Shevchenko, exhibited in Galleries", Kharkiv, 1934, p. 29].
