Portrait of P.V. Enhelhardt – the earliest known watercolor work of Shevchenko, common in the genre at the time watercolor portrait miniatures. Enhelhardt Paul V. (1798 – 1849) – landowner, the slave of whom was Shevchenko.

As an Enhelhardt's portrait introduced to the science by A.P. Novitsky on the testimony of I.E. Tsvetkov (then-owner of a portrait), which, in turn, with this legend could get from Vasily Pavlovich Enhelhardt (the son of depicted) [Novitsky, Ol. Taras Shevchenko as a painter. – Lviv, Moscow, 1914. – S. 40. – № 38]. Attribution confirmed by comparison with other images exactly P.V. Enhelhardt [Historical Journal. – 1911. – № 5. – S. 537].

Reproduced for the first time in 1925 (in publishing technology mistakenly designated as "pencil") [Shevchenko and his era: Collection 1. – [K.], 1925. – Between the pp. 20 – 21].
