Lower left – ink inscription by Shevchenko's hand: in Vjunyschi.

Vjunysche – village in Pereyaslav county, Poltava province (now does not exist – flooded by Kaniv reservoir).

Dated on the basis of memories A.O. Kozachkovsky [see "Kiev Telegraph" on February 26, 1875, № 25], which shows that Shevchenko came to Vjunyschi between VIII-XII in 1845. End date of this figure is limited to October 1845 by the nature of the landscape depicted here.
