Monument to Taras Shevchenko in Kyiv (Voznesensky descent, 20)

Authors – sk. M. Lysenko, stone carver A. Klimenko. The plaster bust of T. Shevchenko, installed in 1964, was turned into marble in 1977 (after the author’s death) by A. Klymenko.

The composition reproduces the famous easel portrait created by sk. M. Lysenko 1945 (stored in the National Art Museum of Ukraine). Another repetition of it – a bronze monument to Taras Shevchenko – was unveiled in 1978 in Paris.
